WassmerDr Robert Wassmer
Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Dr Robert Wassmer is CEO of Gottwald Port Technology. After studying mechanical engineering, he did a doctorate at the Institute for Production Technology at the University of Karlsruhe and, after that, was appointed to the Institute as Chief Engineer. Following this, he was employed by Mercedes Benz USA in 1995/96 with responsibility for project management tasks during the installation of the assembly plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

From 1997 to 2006, he was employed in the railway vehicles industry at ABB-Daimler Benz Transportation (Adtranz) which was incorporated into Bombardier Transportation in 2001. During this time, he held a number of management positions. These included central coordination of R&D, project management for the implementation of globally applied engineering processes and responsibility for rolling out the corresponding IT infrastructure, heading the engineering group for locomotives and including management of the bogies division.

In 2007, Dr Wassmer managed MAG Industrial Systems before taking on the position as CEO of Gottwald Port Technology on June 1, 2008. In his new capacity, Dr Wassmer will be promoting further corporate strategy involving penetrating new markets and designing new business models and an internal continuous improvement process. In this role, he will be able to draw upon his extensive experience of management at an international level.

Dr Wassmer considers close strategic cooperation with innovative customers to be a fundamental precondition for the development of successful, efficient terminal solutions. A keystone of this cooperation is in defining the best possible solutions for managing the multitude of interfaces, environmental aspects and cargo flows encountered in industrial ports and terminals.

 

WeckermannStefan Weckermann
Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Stefan Weckermann is Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Gottwald Port Technology. The economist graduate with more than 15 years of experience in the field of finance and controlling began his career as a controller at Thyssen Haniel Logistic after having completed his studies in economics. From 1995 to 1999, he headed the Sales Controlling Department at Thyssen Haniel Logistic/Bahntrans in Duisburg, Germany. After that, he worked as a controller for Otto Umwelt GmbH & Co. KG in Cologne, Germany, changing to Aral AG in Bochum, Germany in 2000 where he initially worked as a controller and then was appointed to the position of Head of Controlling Europe.

From 2003 to 2006, he was responsible for the shareholdings of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. (KKR), one of the world's leading private equity companies. During this period, he held various management positions at the KKR holding in Luxembourg including Senior Controller at Demag Holding S.à r.l., Luxembourg from whose portfolio the Demag Cranes AG of today originates.

In 2007, Stefan Weckermann was appointed Head of Group Controlling of Demag Cranes AG, being responsible at the same time as Director for Business Administration at Gottwald Port Technology GmbH. As at 1 June 2008, he was appointed to the Executive Management team of Gottwald Port Technology GmbH, taking on the responsibilities of Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

As part of the Executive Management team, Stefan Weckermann will take on an active role as initiator and consultant in developing and implementing strategies to steer and ensure long-term operative business success and continued development of the company. His many years of experience in the field of finance and controlling, complemented by his comprehensive knowledge of the operative business will help him to meet the corporate objectives.

 

DobnerDr Mathias Dobner
Chief Operating Officer (COO) and
Chief Technical Officer (CTO)

Dr Mathias Dobner is Chief Operating Officer (COO)
and Chief Technical Officer (CTO) of Gottwald Port Technology. Having completed his doctorate in mechanical engineering in 1996, he joined the Port Automation Division of Mannesmann Dematic Gottwald in 1996 and was made Head of Systems Development in 1998. In 2004, he was appointed Chief Technical Officer (CTO) and became the sole member of the Executive Board in 2006. On June 1, 2008, Dr Dobner took on the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Chief Technical Officer (CTO) of Gottwald Port Technology.

Dr Mathias Dobner took his doctorate at the leading ISF Welding and Joining Institute of the University of Engineering and Applied Science in Aachen. As Head of Systems Development at Gottwald, he quickly realised how the principles of automated welding could be applied to new industrial fields like robotics and Automated Guided Vehicles. When working on customer-orientated solutions at Gottwald Port Technology today, he encourages his teams always to take a wider and entirely systematic approach and to examine the possibility of applying other industrial techniques to port technology. Dr Dobner considers a thorough understanding of the multitude of interfaces, environmental influences and material flow requirements in a terminal as crucial for successful, efficient and effective port system solutions.
