Harbour Cranes – Three Forces to Reckon With in Cargo HandlingGottwald Port Technology supplies three types of state-of-the-art Harbour Cranes with lifting capacities of up to 200 tonnes and radii of up to 56 metres for handling containers, bulk goods, general and project cargoes alongside vessels of all sizes. Mobile Harbour Cranes, Portal Harbour Cranes and Floating Cranes come into their own at both universal and special-purpose terminals:
The diesel-electric power system frequently found in terminals, whereby electric energy is generated on board the crane by a diesel engine and generator, provides a highly efficient, fuel-saving source of energy with a high degree of availability. Ports and the environment profit twofold from low exhaust and sound emissions. As an option, Gottwald cranes can be operated directly with power from the harbour mains. This makes Gottwald Harbour Cranes even more economical and ecologically compatible.
Above the slew ring, all three types of cranes have the same components. The different solutions – chassis, portal or pontoon – are the result of progressive development and are tailored to meet the individual deployment conditions in ports around the world.
A special feature of Gottwald's Harbour Cranes is the wide range of variants. The Generation 5 cranes have implemented this by a future-orientated modular design principle using many identical parts. For the high-performance handling of pallets, general cargo and containers, a number of crane variants equipped with particularly fast hoists are available. Extremely sturdy four-rope grab variants are particularly suited to professional bulk handling thanks to their high handling rates and long service lifetimes. For project cargo handling, Gottwald provides variants with lifting capacities of up to 200 tonnes.
Thanks to this unprecedented concept, Generation 5 offers the largest possible choice of crane variants to accommodate individual customer requirements. This is expressed by Gottwald’s promise:
